This weekend Lena and I traveled to Amsterdam. IT WAS SO INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL. If you are abroad in or around Europe, or just love traveling, DO NOT MISS AMSTERDAM. This city was by far one of my favorite cities I have ever been to. I think it is the combination of unique buildings/architecture, lovely canals and such nice people that make this city so special.
Friday night, Lena and I went to pick up the key to our apartment with the sister of the owner. The rest of our night was pretty uneventful except getting kebab, which was delicious.
Saturday we went down to Dam Square to go on another New Europe Free Walking Tour which was pretty good! I always love knowing the history of where I travel, it makes everything way more meaningful and puts everything into context. After the walking tour, we had lunch outside and it was absolutely beautiful. We then walked around a little more and explored Amsterdam on our own. We later went back to the apartment to rest and change for dinner/the night. For dinner we went to Getto Burger where they name their burgers after drag queens. It was a super fun place and the burgers were very unique good. After dinner, we wandered around downtown and the RedLight district to soak up everything that Amsterdam has to offer.
Sunday we enjoyed a lovely breakfast of Dutch pancakes and then waited for an hour and a half to enter the Anne Frank house. Seeing the Anne Frank house is definitely necessary while in Amsterdam and it was pretty overwhelming. After that we walked all the way to the I AMsterdam sign and took a ton of pictures. Then we got Wok noodle for lunch at Wok to Walk, and headed back to the Apartment to clean up and pack.
Overall, our stay in Amsterdam was so nice and it was really great to just be able to wander around the cute streets. I also really enjoyed being near water, excluding the Seine.
