Eating DC: Duke’s Grocery

If you haven’t already noticed, I am a total food lover.  I love eating, cooking and trying new restaurants wherever I may be.

With that being said, I have had quite a few great eating days!  I FINALLY got over to Duke’s Grocery for lunch after wanting to go there for ages!

Duke’s is an East London inspired cafe, with such a cute and charming set up and a kick ass menu.  (Don’t even get me started on the drink menu.)  Duke’s is located a few blocks of Dupont Circle, on 17th Street between P and Church, in a little row house.  Outside, they have some cool picnic tables and seating while inside they have bar seating and some high top tables.  The bar is super enat and copper and I actually ate at the bar itself when I went in for lunch.  I think this place is great for a quick and delicious lunch for you and maybe one other person.

While their menu is constantly changing (check their Facebook for updates) everything looks nothing short of amazing.  It was actually hard to pick out what to eat.
I ended up getting the “el chuco” sandwich that included avocado, pepper relish, cilantro, pulled pork and some other goodies, while Lena (shoutout to Lena) when for the “cubano” sandwich with mustard, breaded pounded out pork and more goodies.
Also they had a chicken liver pate on the menu so obviously I couldn’t pass that up (please).
We also both got a Warsteiner to drink because it was happy hour (too good of a deal to pass up).
Overall, I absolutely LOVED Duke’s and cannot wait to go back and try everything on the menu!
xoxo
